Hemp Licensing Changes

Today's press release from the UK Government's Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) is a big step forward for UK farmers and the growth of the emerging domestic bio-economy.

The UK government has announced significant changes to hemp licensing regulations aimed at economic growth within the country and climate change.

Under the new licensing framework from the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA), hemp farmers and businesses will benefit from smoother licensing processes and reduced growing hurdles. These changes are expected to facilitate greater participation in the hemp industry.

The announcement has been met with enthusiasm from stakeholders across various sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, and environmental advocacy groups. Many view the updated regulations as a positive signal for the future of hemp in the UK, with expectations of increased investment and market expansion.

The British Hemp Alliance welcomes progressive change to the licencing system imposed on hemp growers.

This year is shaping up to be monumental for the fledgling UK industry.
